Turning the pages and moving ahead, team India seems like to have learned a lot from the loss in Pune as they had a good start in the first session of the second game of India vs Australia Test series in Bengaluru. The luck went well right from the toss and skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first. Earlier, Virat Kohli left every Indian cricket fan awestruck after he included Abhinav Mukund in the squad along with Karun Nair who replaced injured Murali Vijay and Jayant Yadav.
The opening pair looked totally new today as with KL Rahul it was Abhinav Mukund who mad his comeback in the test format after six long years. Right from the first ball of the game, Rahul made it sure for the opponents that though they have lost the first game but the spirit is still on and shamed a superb cover drive and sent the ball beyond the boundary for a four. Suddenly, the crowd went through several goosebumps of joy after 10 runs came in the over.
In the second over it was the new man who took the strike and looked completely struggling against Josh Hazle wood. Abhinav’s inning couldn’t last long and in the 3rd over he was dismissed by Mitch Starc for a golden duck. An unfortunate comeback which finished so soon. But at the other end, KL Rahul looked completely boosted up to trouble the Aussies as much as possible.
The entire scenario looked completely different from what was witnessed in Pune. Rahul was the one who didn’t get off the line and is moving ahead for his another half century. While the next batsman in, Cheteshwar Pujara, had a controlled start and a calculated pace of batting. But in the second last ball of the 28th over, spinner Nathan Lyon turned the ball which bounced and took an edge of Pujara’s bat and landed in the safe hands of Peter Handscomb.
By the end of the first session,
Ind: 72-1, KL Rahul – 48 (93)
