Coming from the backwaters of cricket—Jharkhand—Mahendra Singh Dhoni has reached the pinnacle of success. He has captained India to a T20 World Cup victory in 2007 and in 50-overs internationals in 2011. Dhoni is also the most successful Indian captain. India, who are currently hosting Australia at home, have squared the series 1-1 after a forgettable loss at Pune. Now, both the teams are headed east to Ranchi, to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s hometown.
MSD, popularly called the Ranchi Rambo, paid a visit to the ground ahead of the crucial face-off. That’s exactly what has caught the eye and given way to another controversy. MSD was spotted having a keen discussion with the pitch curator, SB Singh.
After this, Dhoni headed straight to Bengaluru for the glitzy award night.
But when the curator was asked what Dhoni had to say, he played it down saying that it was just one of those visits MSD makes often. Pitch has been the centre of all the talk, considering the two pitches did not help stroke making and batting to flourish.
The curator said, “He has never intervened in pitch preparation in the last four years. Being such a great player, I always look forward to his inputs on the quality of wicket.”
Historically, the Ranchi pitch has offered bounce and has stood face to face to being an ideal pitch as well. With inputs coming in, we get to know that three strips have been prepared by the Jharkhand State Cricket Association.
It will also be a momentous opportunity for the people in Ranchi to witness cricket in whites for the first time.
