Twitterati refuse to forgive Hardik Pandya’s ‘silly’ and ‘lazy’ runout

India is at 251 for 6 and Virat Kohli is batting on 117 along with Ravichandran Ashwin, who is on 19. India still trails by 83 runs

Hardik Pandya’s lazy runout  in the first hour of Day 3 of 2nd Test at Centurion cost India dearly. Hardik Pandya was out at 15 runs even though he was aiming to forge a big partnership with Virat Kohli, who had scored his first century of 2018 and the 21st of his career. The partnership of 45 runs came to an abrupt end after Hardik Pandya’s  dismissal. The most unfortunate bit about his dismissal was that he had entered the crease well in time but forgot to drag his bat along the line, i.e his bat was still in the air. It was Vernon Philander took wicket. The irony is, Hardik Pandya had run Philander out in the first innings and now Philander has taken his revenge, in a way.

The runout was certainly not something India was looking for as Virat was in an ominous form and all he wanted was support from the other end. Hardik Pandya would be extremely annoyed with himself as this is not the way a professional is generally dismissed. India is still trailing and Virat Kohli would be hoping for India to bat well and take a substantial lead.

Here is how Twitter bashed Hardik Pandya over his careless dismissal:

Pandya run out. Looked very comfortable at crease. A bit too comfortable, I guess. Forgets to slide the bat.

Now please don’t go punch the locker room door, Hardik Pandya.
Don’t do what Ben Stokes once did in WestIndies.
It’s an unforgivable run-out. But you’ll never commit that again.#INDvSA#SAvIND@SPN_Cricket
