Shikhar Dhawan, also known as the Gabbar of the Indian cricket team, came back into the Indian Test squad after a period of 9 months and the way he roared on Day 1 was phenomenal. He was in the team for Murali Vijay and got a chance to play as KL Rahul couldn’t make the first game. Above all, he proved his worth with his bat which yelled 190 runs off just 168 balls. He was unstoppable on the ground today. After completing his fifty, he shifted the gear a level up and was batting fearlessly. He hit a boundary in almost every over and he just reminded of his debut knock against Australia. Unfortunately, he was dismissed before he could score a double ton.

After the match, he addresses a press conference where he discussed his marvellous inning. He said,”I was happy about my comeback. unfortunately, Vijay got injured and rule. Before this Test, I had a good series and today I played with the same mindset and followed the similar procedure of batting.”

“I was happy about my comeback. Unfortunately, Vijay got injured and rule. Before this Test, I had a good series and today I played with the same mindset and followed the similar procedure of batting,” Dhawan added.

He also described how good was the wicket which helped him bat fearlessly and fluently. He also stated that score runs at this venue that’s the special thing about Galle stadium.

When asked how different this inning was than the previous ones, he said,”My debut inning was more like this one. Even against Bangladesh, I have played a quick inning. But this one was a bit better than all the previous innings.”

Speaking about his bad form and the stint during which he was not in the team he said,”There was a time when I was not scoring runs. I felt pressure and I was hurt when I was dropped. I moved on where I played domestic cricket for Delhi. I enjoyed myself. I don’t want to be sad and if the things have to come on your way they definitely will. ”

“I was disappointed when I was caught at 190. I would have scored a double hundred. More than that I got out at the wrong time. I was confident and hitting a four almost in every over. But I’m happy that I could play well and score 190 runs at the end.”
