Shikhar Dhawan flies back home to be with his ailing mother, will Ajinkya Rahane get a game?

The Delhi southpaw has been in scintillating form, since his comeback into the team three months back, during the Champions Trophy

Indian top order batsman Shikhar Dhawan had to fly back to India to be by the side of his ailing mother. He has been the man of the series in the recently concluded Test series and has shown impeccable form in the blues as well. Now that India leads 4-0, in the series with one game to go, it will not hurt team India a lot. According to the grapevine, Ajinkya Rahane is set to make a come back into the team and in all probability would partner Rohit Sharma at the top of the order. It will also be interesting to see if Rahane gets a big one and provide an alternative at the top.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said this in a statement on Saturday.

‘Dhawan’s mother is stable and is recovering well at the moment,’ read the statement issued by the BCCI.

No replacement has yet been decided for the 5th ODI and the only T20I scheduled to be held on September 3rd and 6th respectively in Colombo.

India will play its fifth ODI against Sri Lanka at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.

While the one Twenty 20 International will be played on September 6.

India continued their dominance in the ongoing tour of Sri Lanka, defeating them by a huge margin of 168 runs in the fourth ODI of the five-match series at the R. Premdasa Stadium here on Thursday.

The Delhi southpaw has been in scintillating form, since his comeback into the team three months back, during the Champions Trophy, since then he has not put a foot wrong and has only risen the ranks.
