Shikhar Dhawan once again proved his worth in the ongoing third Test against Sri Lanka which started at Pallekele Stadium on August 12. Along with his opening partner KL Rahul, Dhawan gave a perfect start to the innings. Both of them knocked their half centuries before the lunch, and this pair added 188 runs for the first wicket before Rahul was dismissed on 85. Soon, Dhawan reached his 6th Test ton. He was on fire today and was in touch before Dinesh Chandimal took a stunning acrobatic catch to dismiss him at a score of 119.
Spinner Malinda Pushpakumara came into the attack while Dhawan was on strike. Pushpakumara bowled a full-length delivery which Dhawan swept it to the square leg area. Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal was already present there who then dived full-length towards his left to grab the ball. The captain took a mind-blowing acrobatic catch to dismiss the set batsman and got the much-needed break through.

Earlier today, Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first. India had a quick and perfect start as both the openers reached their fifty in the first session. Post lunch, Sri Lankan bowlers successfully managed to get three wickets as they dismissed Shikhar Dhawan (119), KL Rahul (85) and Cheteshwar Pujara (8). In the third session, skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane took the Indian inning forward.
Team India’s star spinner Ravindra Jadeja has been dropped for this game as he has been handed a one-match ban by the ICC on being found breaching the Code of Conduct in the Colombo Test. Hence, chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav replaced him for the last game.
