Star spinner Ravindra Jadeja has been suspended for the third and the last Test, moments after being awarded the man of the match for a heroic 5-wicket haul and a half century in the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka. As reported by the news agency ANI, the left-arm Indian bowler was found guilty of breaching the code of conduct relating to throwing the ball at or near any 3rd person inappropriately during the second Test at SSC Colombo.
Ravindra Jadeja has been found guilty under article 2.2.8 which deals with “throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment such as a water bottle) at or near a Player, Team Official, Umpire, Match Referee or any other third person in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during a Match.” The incident took place when Jadeja fielded his own bowling and threw back the ball at batsman Malinda Pushpakumara in a “dangerous manner’ in the 58th over of the match.
The reports also said that his accumulated demerit points reached six within a 24-month period following his latest breach. Thus, he has been suspended from the last game of the series going to start from August 12 at Pallekele stadium in Balagolla.
World no 1 Test bowler, Ravindra Jadeja took the 9th 5-wicket haul of his career in the second Test against Sri Lanka and dismissed Dinesh Chandimanl, Angelo Mathews, Dilruwan Perera, Dhananjay Disilva and one of the two centurions Dimuth Karunaratne. Doing the most of the damage, Ravindra Jadeja did most of the damage with figures of 5/152. Star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had figures of 2/132 while medium-pacer Hardik Pandya returned 2/31. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav took one wicket.
Team India beat the Sri Lankan team by an innings and 53 runs on their home soil in the 2nd Test of India vs Sri Lanka 3-match bilateral series on August 8.

With this victory, Team India leads the series by 2-0 with one more game to be played. This is also the 8th consecutive Test match victory for the Indian cricket team under the captaincy of Virat Kohli while second Test series win in Sri Lanka.
