An under-17 cricketer passed away in a freakish incident of drowning in a swimming pool in Sri Lanka. He was apparently there in a tour game. Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team, who are also in Sri Lanka completed their tour by winning the one-off T20I versus Sri Lanka. They whitewashed Sri Lanka, in what was a clean sweep9-0. But, with this incident coming to light of the death of a young cricketer, has sent shock waves in the cricketing circuit.

According to a report by Sunday Times, four members of the Indian team were in the swimming pool of a hotel in Pamunugama on Tuesday evening. This is when the incident took place and the boy was immediately rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to death. The report stated that the body of the cricketer was taken to the Ragama Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem examination and the police is investigating the matter. The boy who hailed from Gujarat was travelling with a 19-member squad. He was a 12-year-old, very young. The reason behind this incident is still not clear.

This is not the first incident of a cricketers death, as some time back a young Pakistani cricketer also passed away after being hit on the field.
