After winning the last ODI by 168 runs, the men in blue are leading the series by 4-0 and will look forward to creating history on the Lankan Soil. If India wins the fifth and the last ODI today, they will become the first team to clean-sweep a bilateral ODI series in Sri Lanka. And after witnessing the previous games, it’s expected that Virat Kohli & Co. would hit the bull’s eye.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka has lost all the chances for a direct entry in the World Cup 2019 as needed to win at least two games in the series. However, in order to keep the hopes alive, the home team need to put all their efforts to save their pride.

India: Ahead of the last ODI, Team India had a huge blow as the in-form batsman and star opener Shikhar Dhawan had to return India to see his ailing mother. The BCCI has also announced that no replacement has been decided for the 5th ODI and the only T20I scheduled to be held on September 3rd and 6th respectively in Colombo. Now, in this case, Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri has to manage with the left over squad which could make a fair chance for Ajinkya Rahane who has been benched till now in the ODI series. As per as the bowling department is concerned, the bowlers who played the last ODI may continue as they collectively performed well.
Sri Lanka: Regular skipper Upul Tharanga is all set to be back on the field after being banned by ICC for two matched for a slow over rate. Dhanushka Gunathilake is still struggling with his shoulder and likely will not be taken in the playing XI. Since Tharanga will be back, Kusal Mendis may be rested.
