MS Dhoni joins Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, to set up cricket academy in Dubai with PSC

This has to be looked upon as a business venture, MSD, as he is popularly known already owns a gym in India, which ropes in big moolah

Even as Mahendra Singh Dhoni readies himself for the Lankan battle in blues, he is involved in multiple things at the same time. MS Dhoni, who many say is in the twilight of his career is all set to open a cricket academy in Dubai. He won’t be the first cricketer to do so, as many before him like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh have already set up their own academies. Gulf News confirmed his tie up with Dubai Pacific Sports Club (PSC) in the UAE, which will serve as a breeding ground for people interested in the sport.

Interestingly this is not the first business venture for MSD, who already owns a gym in India.

“Sport has attained a global stature not just for fostering athleticism and sportsmanship, but also as a viable business platform that involves many different stakeholders, from small businesses to big conglomerates and organisations. I am delighted to be a part of the club and will contribute in any means possible to make it a success,” said MS Dhoni.

“Pacific Sports Club is excited about its association with MS Dhoni, a superstar in the field of cricket. PSC has all exclusive rights to MS Dhoni Cricket Academy (MSDCA), not just in the UAE but other GCC countries, South Africa and the UK. Dhoni will be the brand ambassador for the academy and will be hands-on at the PSC with frequent visits. What makes this venture exciting is that this is for the first time ever that the cricketer is launching his academy and he chose Dubai for the launch of his new venture,” said Parvez Khan, who is a part of PSC and the owner of the Capricorn Commanders, a team that competed in the Masters Champions League.

“We will offer a high-level plus coaching and training as well as a strategic sports development programs managed by some of our well-known and beloved sports personalities,” added Khan, who will partner with schools and colleges in the UAE with a view of expanding to other GCC countries, South Africa and the UK.
