MS Dhoni took charge of the victory lap and the celebrations post India’s whitewash win over Sri Lanka at Colombo by 5-0. Dhoni brought back the old celebrations as Jasprit Bumrah was awarded the ‘Man of the Series’ for being the leading wicket-taker. Dhoni rolled back the clock to give the fans a visual treat and make them nostalgic. We had not seen such celebrations where the ‘Man of the Series’ car or bike gets driven around the ground and the whole team joins in the celebration.
Dhoni has a huge garage filled with cars and bikes but he did not refrain from taking Bumrah’s Man of the Series Award for a test drive around the Colombo ground. At first, he struggled to get the car started. The whole team adjusted them on the car. A few sat in the front seat with Dhoni while a few sat at the back including Rohit Sharma, Bumrah, and Ajinkya Rahane.
While the youngsters Axar Patel, Manish Pandey, Shardul Thakur and Yuzvendra Chahal were either standing or sitting at the top of the car with the trophy. Hardik Pandya’s expressions were as if his elder brother is taking him out for a joy ride.
Celebrations like these had become rare in today’s scenario. It was a treat to watch a celebration like this and refresh the memories of Cup wins India had over a decade ago.

India created history at Colombo as they were able to beat Sri Lanka at their home for the first time by whitewashing the five-match ODI series. India have maintained a 100 per cent win record on their tour of Sri Lanka.

They will be looking to put the final nail in the coffin with the one-off T20I coming up. On the other hand, Sri Lanka will have to depend on West Indies’ performance to know whether they get a direct entry into World Cup 2019 or not.
