MS Dhoni shows his greatness again, lets Virat Kohli score the winning runs instead of hitting six | Watch VIdeo

MS Dhoni did not end the 5th ODI at Colombo in style when he came out to bat with just 2 runs to win the match but won hearts with his gesture

MS Dhoni is considered to be one of the best finishers of all-time. Dhoni is also known for his finishing style, he often finishes the match with a six and impressing everyone over and over again. But, this time he does something entirely different but still ended up winning everyone’s hearts. Dhoni had to come out to bat as Kedar Jadhav got out in the 47th over with just 2 runs for India to win. Jadhav tried to finish the game with a boundary but ended up getting caught by wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella.

Dhoni came to bat and everyone expected him to finish the match in style like he usually does. But surprisingly Dhoni takes a single off the first ball he faces and gets Virat Kohli on strike who had already scored his 30th ODI century and was batting on 109. Kohli sensed while taking a single that Dhoni has done this on purpose letting him score the winning runs and whitewashing the series 5-0 at Colombo.

Dhoni gave Kohli a smile as he strolled towards the non-striker end. Kohli too understood why Dhoni had given him the strike. He did not try to finish it off in style as he took a single towards long off and won the match with 21 balls to spare.

Kohli played the match-winning knock of 110 from 116 balls helping India whitewash the ODI series for the first time against Sri Lanka at their home soil.

With his 30th ODI hundred he also equaled former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting’s 30 ODI centuries. The Indian skipper was also able to equal the record of former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar of hitting the most number of centuries against Sri Lanka.

This was not the first time Dhoni has displayed a gesture like this. He has done it in the past as well letting Kohli score the winning runs when he had worked hard to get India to that situation.
