Team India’s star opener Shikhar Dhawan had to leave the bilateral series against Sri Lanka ahead of the last ODI and will also not feature in the one-off T20I scheduled to be played on September 6. The reason behind his leaving for India was his ailing mother who had been hospitalised. Fortunately, Dhawan’s mother is well now. On September 4, Dhawan shared a picture with his mother where he thanked his fans for their support.

On September 3, Dhawan left Sri Lanka to be with his family. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed this information in a press release. The release said,”Opener Shikhar Dhawan would be leaving for India on Sunday to see his ailing mother. Dhawan’s mother is stable and is recovering well at the moment.”

As of now, Dhawan’s mother is recovering from an illness. The Indian cricketer took to his official Twitter account and shared a picture of himself with his mother. Both the mother and the son could be seen smiling in that photo. Shawan also wrote a caption with the picture which read,”Mom is recovering… Her health is much better than before. Thank you every1 fr your support.”
