Rohit Sharma led Team India won the last T20I series of 2017 after defeating Sri Lanka in the 2nd face off by a massive margin of 88 runs at the Holkar Stadium, Indore on December 22. It all began with a magnificent century from the stand-in Indian skipper and then the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal put the final nail in the coffin. India now lead the series by 2-0 with one more game to be played on December 24.

Earlier in the game, Sri Lanka won the toss and invited the home team to bat first. The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave an explosive start to the team and registered the third best opening partnership (165 runs) in T20I. Indian posted 260 runs by the end of 20 overs which also turned out to be the second highest team total in T20Is after Australia’s 243 against which also came against Sri Lanka in 2016.

Rohit Sharma got the 2nd T20I of his career which came off just 35 balls. With this magnificent hundred, he equalled David Miller’s record of the fastest T20I century. His monstrous batting stint included 10 sixes and 12 fours and he scored 118 runs off 43 balls before he lost his wicket to Dushmantha Chameera. On the other hand, KL Rahul went on to score 89 runs off 49 balls and hit 8 sixes and 5 fours.

The Lankans had a good start when they came to chase a huge target of 261 runs. Despite losing an early wicket, Upul Tharanga (47) and Kusal Perera (77) gave a tough fight and hammered the Indian bowlers for a while. However, in the 14th over, Tharanga lost his wicket after which the Lankan middle terribly collapsed and they got all out on 172 with 16 balls remaining.
