Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who made a comeback into the Indian squad after almost three months due to Board of Control for Cricket in India’s rotation policy, has added another feather to his cap as he broke former Australian speedster Dennis Lillee’s record to become the fastest bowler to pick 300 wickets in Test cricket.
Ashwin achieved this feat during the second Test match against Sri Lanka at Nagpur. Lahiru Gamage was Ashwin’s 300th scalp.
Ashwin, who was overlooked for three consecutive limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand, picked up 300 wickets in 54 Test matches he played since his debut against West Indies in 2011.
