Indian batsmen dominate Sri Lanka on Day 1 of the first Test. Shikhar Dhawan made the most of the opportunity as he made a blistering 190 off 168 balls scoring at a strike rate of 113.10. Though he missed out on his maiden double century and many other records as he got out on the brink of the second session. On the other hand, Abhinav Mukund could not do much as he got out for 12. Cheteswar Pujara continued his form and scored his 12th Test hundred.
Skipper Virat Kohli got out in a controversial way as it was quite unclear in the review whether the ball had hit the bat or not. After three wickets, Ajinkya Rahane came in to bat and put on over 100-run partnership scoring 39 runs. Only Nuwan Pradeep could be influential taking three wickets.
This is India’s second highest score on Day 1 of the first Test.
