After a comfortable victory in the One Day International series, 3-1, India took on hosts West Indies in the one-off T20I. For the hosts, there was good news as old pros like Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels were making a comeback into the national side. In the shortest format, Windies are the world champions, hence there was a lot at stake when they took on India. West Indies won the toss and wisely opted to field first, as they knew Indians are good chasers. India got off to one of their best T20 start in recent times, but soon a couple of wickets set them back, but eventually India managed to put on a healthy 190. But that did not look threatening as the track was good to bat on and Windies had the ammunition.
The Windies chase started off cautiously but a couple of big overs at the end of the powerplay set the hosts up. Evin Lewis was in lethal touch. It did not matter where the fielders were as he kept hitting the ball over them. Chris Gayle, against his nature was happy picking the singles in the process booking himself a ticket at the non-striker’s end to watch Lewis cart the ball. Lewis had hit a 49-ball 100 in the past against the same opposition. He scored a insane 62-ball 125*, to see the hosts through with 9 balls to spare.
West Indies won the game by 9 wickets. They only lost the solitary wicket of Chris Gayle en-route 190. There was no stopping Lewis as he took a liking to most bowlers, he ended up with a dozen (12 sixes) to his name and six boundaries. This is an innings Caribbean cricket lovers will not forget soon.

It was a epic knock and a memorable victory. India will now take a break for a couple of weeks before they are on the road again, as they will tour Sri Lanka for a series.
