The India vs West Indies 1st ODI gets abandoned due to rain. The weather forecast showed that rain might play spoilsport and it did as only 39.2 overs could be bowled. Windies won the toss and elected to bowl first as they knew rain might come into play and with that DLS method as well. But, it did not come to that as both Virat Kohli and Jason Holder had to settle for a draw in the first ODI of the five-match ODI series.
Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane put on a terrific opening partnership of 132. Rahane got out for 62 whereas Dhawan missed out on a century as he got out for 87. Kohli carried on the innings as he was given a perfect platform to play his kind of shots. But, Yuvraj Singh got out early leaving Kohli in the middle. MS Dhoni came into bat but soon enough clouds came out of nowhere and it poured down heavily at Queen’s Park.
The rain stopped after almost an hour but the covers soon came back on allowing only 8 balls to be bowled and only a boundary being scored off Dhoni’s bat. The rain was persistent as covers were coming on and off multiple times.

At one point of time when rain stopped, the game was reduced to 26 overs with Windies needing 196 according to DLS method. But as soon as the covers came off, the rain returned as well which meant that the first ODI will get washed off.
