India won the 3rd One Day International (ODI) against West Indies by 93 runs. India take an unassailable lead in the series, where they cannot lose it from here. But there were many reasons that led to India winning today. One of them has to be the most celebrated cricketer in the country Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored an unbeaten 78, which helped India put up a challenging 251 for the hosts. At a certain stage the more-fancied visitors were not in a good position but due to some marvelous batsman-ship by MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav, India managed 251.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni whose form was questioned before this match proved to his critics once again that age is a mere number when it comes to performances, you need the skills which he has in abundance. MS Dhoni’s innings also earned him the man of the match. Jadhav’s cameo 40 from 26 deliveries was pivotal in the 81-run unbroken fifth-wicket partnership which came off merely 46 balls and came at a time when the Blues needed it the most. Dhoni’s 78 not out today on the Caribbean soil is second to his 2009-knock of 95 runs.

Also, with a couple of sixes in the game, he stands in the sixth position in the list of most 6’s in international cricket, with 322 sixes in total.

Today too he hit a couple of sixes of consecutive balls, that reminded us of the old warhorse who was brutal and ruthless. With two more ODI’S to go it is highly likely that Virat Kohli will give chance to his bench strength.
