The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is soon going to revise and rephrase the contracts of Team India players. A few weeks ago, the cricketers approached the governing board and urged for a salary hike. They made this demand after the board cracked a huge deal with the Star group to telecast the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2018 to 2022.
According to several media reports, skipper Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni along with head coach Ravi Shastri were scheduled to meet Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) led by Vinod Rai on December 1. It has been learned that following the meet, the cricketers with the Grade A contracts could be paid around Rs 12 crore a year, Grade B players’ contracts could be worth around Rs 8 crore and Grade C contracts could fetch around Rs 4 crore a year. The reports also state that the salary of the captain would be even higher than the Grade A pay scale.
