India’s T20 World Cup final fame Joginder Sharma’s father Om Prakash has suffered injuries after being stabbed by knife. The incident took place near his confectionary shop as it was closing time. Two criminals in an attempt to loot him took out a knife and tried to stab him multiple times. Joginder’s father was quick to react as he resisted those attacks but the criminals took away Rs. 7,000 cash from the drawer. Joginder Sharma was India’s last-over hero in their first World T20 title when Misbah-ul-Haq made a mess of the delivery and gave a simple catch to Sreesanth.
According to Hindustan Times, Joginder Sharma’s father was closing his confectionery show when the two criminals situated near Kathmandi in Rohtak. The criminals who looted him at first came and purchased cigarettes and cold drinks. After a few minutes, they returned with an intent to attack the 68-year-old and take his money.
Om Prakash who is the father of Deputy Superintendent told Police in his complaint, “They first tried to take cash from my pockets. But when I tried to stop them, one of the boys took out a knife and tried to stab me in my stomach. I stopped him by holding the knife in my hands. They then entered my shop and took all the cash from the drawer. They took nearly Rs 7,000.”
After the whole incident, the two criminals locked Joginder’s father in his own shop and left. Though he managed to call his other son Deepak Sharma after a while who came to his aid. Deepak broke the lock and took his father to the hospital.
Deepak gave an update on his father’s condition, he said, “He suffered knife injuries in his hands when he tried to stopped them from stabbing him in the stomach. He has been discharged now,”
The crime has been reportedly registered against the two criminals under sections 342 and 379 B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
