It came as a surprise to every viewer who is watching IPL Auction 2017 when South African leg-spinner and No.1 bowler in ODIs and T20Is did not attract a single bid from any of the franchises. His recent performances have been top notch. Tahir recently took a five-wicket haul for the Proteas against New Zealand in T20I. His base price too was not over-the-top. The auctioneer Richard Medley announced his base price at INR 50 lakhs.

Welcome to InUth’s coverage of IPL Auction 2017. We will bring you live updates right from the auctioneer’s hammer seals the bid. IPL Auction 2017 kicks off today as franchisees will engage in a bidding war from a wide range of more than 350 available players. The auction season is back and we will soon be able to witness which player bags the highest bid or which player remains unsold after the last stamp of the auctioneer. Speculations have already started on which players will be the hot picks of the tournament.
Hot property of IPL Auction 2017:
Ben Stokes is no doubt the talk of the town before the auction, the all-rounder has attracted a lot of franchisees. Stokes can do damage with both bat and ball. Franchisees who will be expected to go the extra mile for this player are Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians.
Fast bowlers going under the hammer are Ishant Sharma, Dale Steyn, Mitchell Johnson, Trent Boult, Chris Woakes, Kagiso Rabada, Taskin Ahmed.

How IPL 2017 Auction will be carried out?
Despite a huge number of players on the auction list, each franchise can buy upto 25 players each in a single auction. The highest number of foreign players sold in the auction will be 76. As soon as the auctioneer starts the bid of a player from his base price, franchises will first increase their bids by 5 lakhs till the bid reaches 1 crore. From 1 to 3 crores, bids will increase by 10 lakhs. The bids will increase by 20 lakhs when the amount ranges from 3 to 5 crores. If any player’s bid goes beyond 5 crores, then the bid will be increased by franchisees with an interval of 50 lakhs.

Even if players who were not bidden upon can bag a deal when their names are announced for the second time. If they fail to attract a bid in the second phase too, they remain unsold for this year’s auction.
