Kolkata Knight Riders seem all set to have a new captain in Indian Premier League 2018 after Gautam Gambhir was sold off to Delhi Daredevils. With a lot of speculations doing the rounds for quite some time now, it seems Australian top-order batsman Chris Lynn could be asked to lead the Knights. KKR broke the bank to secure the services of Lynn when they bought him for a jaw-dropping Rs 9.6 crore in January. Pundits also questioned the thinking behind this logic, because Lynn does not have ample experience of leading a side. So will KKR be tempted to hand him the mantle of captaincy?

Recently, KKR coach Jacques Kallis told PTI that Lynn is one of their top picks for the captaincy role. Now, Kallis has been a part of the outfit for a long time as a player and as a part of the support staff. Lynn has been having a dream run at the Big Bash League 2017-18.
Representing the Brisbane Heats, he played 5 matches and amassed 148 runs with a best of 63 not out and strike-rate of 162.63. With Lynn, the key to his game is the astounding strike-rate he manages. That has been a trademark of him throughout his career. That is one aspect that makes Lynn a very dangerous T20 batsman.

When asked about captaining KKR, he told Cricket Australia,
I’d love to, I’d jump at the opportunity,” the Lynn was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au on Monday. “We’ve got a really good group at Kolkata. The coaching staff, Simon Katich, Jacques Kallis, Heath Streak … I can relate [easily to] them.
The other contenders in the KKR outfit who could be considered for the role are Robin Uthappa, Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine. But Lynn emerges as the front-runner as of this day.
