Nepal’s leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who will represent Delhi Daredevils in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, was on March 22 handed over the jersey with number ‘1’ printed on his back along with his name.
Nepal Sports Council Member Secretary Keshav Bista handed over the Jersey number ‘1’ to Lamichhane in a program of at Kathmandu.

Lamichhane recently came back to Nepal after playing World Cup qualifiers from Zimbabwe and will be heading to India next week for IPL.
Earlier in January, DD bought 17-year-old Nepali cricketer Lamichhane at Rs 20 lakh during IPL players’ auctions held in Bengaluru.

Talking about opting number ‘1’ for his jersey, Lamichhane revealed, ”I cannot take the number 25 from my seniors, as the birth date of my deceased Nephew falls on January i.e. 1, so I took the number for the jersey and we always want to be number one for which I took the number.”
Lamichhane came into the spotlight after he took a hat-trick against Ireland U19 team during ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016 in Bangladesh. He became the fifth bowler to take a hat-trick in the under-19 world cup history.
This season’s IPL is set to start from April 7 to the May 27. In this season, a total of eight teams will be competing in the tournament.
