Andre Russell, the ferocious all-rounder from the Caribbean, celebrated his 30th birthday with his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammates on April 30. After defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the Knights returned to their team hotel joyous as they achieved a victory after two consecutive losses in this tournament.

Following the tradition, the KKR players celebrated Russell’s birthday by giving him a cake-facial. The big man’s face was all smeared with chocolate icing from his birthday cake. His teammates, including Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine and Apoorv Wankhade, were among those who decorated Russell’s face.

Russell, on his birthday, was lucky on the field as well, especially while bowling to RCB. Virat Kohli’s side had a decent start until Dre-Russ came to the attack an took two crucial wickets (Brendon McCullum and Manan Vohra) in a single over.

He remained the highest wicket-taker from KKR, picking 3 scalps out of 4. However, it was not his day with the bat as he was dismissed by Mohammad Siraj for a golden duck.

In the end, KKR pulled out another magnificent victory over RCB (3rd on the trot), which ultimately made Russell’s birthday a memorable one.
