T20 cricket is considered to be a batsman’s game but of late, bowlers have also pulled a few tricks that proved to be troublesome. Dot balls are considered to be golden in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. Bowlers who can keep the boundaries at bay go for ridiculous prices in the auctions. This season of IPL will also feature a few bowlers who are on the list of top 10 players with ‘most dot balls bowled’ in IPL.
India’s swing bowler Praveen Kumar has been one of the most economical bowlers despite his dismal show in the previous editions of the T20 league.
Here is the list of top 10 bowlers who bowled the most number of dot balls in IPL history —
Praveen Kumar (Gujarat Lions) – 1,075 dot balls
Harbhajan Singh (Chennai Super Kings) – 1,063 dot balls
Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians) – 1,060 dot balls
Dale Steyn (Gujarat Lions) – 978 dot balls
Amit Mishra (Delhi Daredevils) – 953 dot balls
Piyush Chawla (Kolkata Knight Riders) – 910 dot balls
Ravichandran Ashwin (Kings XI Punjab) – 891 dot balls
Zaheer Khan (Delhi Daredevils) – 873 dot balls
Irfan Pathan (Gujarat Lions) – 835 dot balls
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Sunrisers Hyderabad) – 832 dot balls
We might witness a major reshuffle in the list as Praveen, Malinga, Steyn and Pathan went unsold in the IPL 2018 auctions whereas Zaheer has retired from all formats of cricket. Harbhajan is playing for CSK has already got past former teammate Malinga with three dot balls in IPL 2018 opener. Also, he can breach Praveen’s tally of dot balls in a few matches.
Mishra is nearing Steyn’s tally too with a difference of just 25 dot balls. There might be a tussle between Chawla and Ashwin as they will be looking to bowl as many dot balls as possible to restrict the batsmen. Bhuvneshwar too has a chance to move up the ladder and go past Zaheer and Pathan.
