Shardul Thakur took a scorcher-of-a-catch to dismiss Stuart Binny and outshine Shane Watson’s breathtaking century. Chennai Super Kings won their first match in their new home Pune comfortably by 64 runs. But it was Shane Watson’s 106 off 57 balls that set it up in the first place. Earlier, Rajasthan Royals’ Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and put CSK into bat first. That was a decision that was on the cards, considering the IPL 2018 trend. Riding high on Watson’s century and a healthy contribution from Suresh Raina, CSK managed to put up a daunting 205 for Royals to chase.

But the moment involving Thakur that we are talking about occurred in 16th over. Royals were anyways looking down the barrel. It was Stuart Binny on strike, he tried to pull a short ball of Thakur, only to mistime it and top edge it. Thakur, who had just bowled the ball, had to make reasonable ground on his follow through to complete the catch with one hand. The crowd went ballistic when he completed the catch. CSK were anyways cruising and that wicket acted like the last nail in the coffin for the Royals.

During the match, we also saw how the social media was trolling Stuart Binny and having a laugh at his cost. It will be a night to forget for Binny, who did not come good with the ball and the bat.
For the 1000 odd Chennai Super Kings fans who endured the 26-hour train journey to Pune, this was a night to remember. On the contrary, for home-lad Rahul Tripathi it was a night to forget. He was dismissed for 5 of 5 balls. CSK go to the top of the table with the win, as Royals dip to the fifth spot.
