It seems like Kedar Jadhav’s stint with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was short-lived. After Jadhav’s last-over heroics against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 opener, he has now been ruled out of the tournament due to a Grade Two hamstring injury. He suffered the injury while playing against MI which made him go off the field in the 13th over of the run-chase. CSK have roped-in English all-rounder David Willey as his replacement.
Willey’s base price was Rs 2 crore, he could not find a bid in IPL 2018 auctions. The 28-year-old is the second Yorkshire player to be roped in IPL 2018 as a replacement for the injured player. Before him, Liam Plunkett replaced Delhi Daredevils’ Kagiso Rabada. Though it is not yet clear whether he has come in as a replacement for an injured Mitchell Santner or Kedar Jadhav.

Willey is a seasoned T20 cricketer who has played in T20 leagues across the world. The left-handed batsman has two centuries to his name as well. His economy rate in T20s is 7.82 which is not bad either. The all-rounder can be the opening bowler and can be used as a floater in the batting order depending on the situation.
Willey has struck Australian spinner Nathan Lyon for five sixes in a row in a T20 match. On his day, he can take the game away from the opposition with both the bat and the ball.
