After every Indian Premier League (IPL) season concludes, few uncapped cricketers always leave an impression on the minds of the Indian selectors, who give them a chance to enter the Indian dressing room. This year, that cricketer is Mumbai Indians’ (MI) young wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan.
In Match Number 41 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kishan played an emphatic knock and smashed the second-fastest fifty of this season. With his amazing batting along with some fiery knocks from other batsmen, MI posted a huge score of 210 runs and later defeated the KKR by 102 runs. During the post-match presser, the 19-year-old cricketer revealed how MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma played a vital part in nurturing his skills.

During the game, Kishan attempted a helicopter shot too. When asked about how he managed to play that shot, he said,
“I’ve practised that shot in the nets. If I get a yorker-length ball like this, then I know what I should do. So that was the plan.”

Apart from his historic inning, Kishan also attempted a few techniques in lines of what Dhoni does while keeping the wickets. If you observe his work behind the wickets, his dedication can be clearly visible. At the same time, if senior players like Dhoni and Rohit back a fresh talent with a wise brain, nobody can stop him from touching new heights.
Kishan’s batting performance has been the talk of the town right from the beginning of this season. Though his batting average is lower than previous years’, his strike rate has gone up which is his best-ever in IPL.
