Karun Nair deep in the boundary took one of the better catches of the Indian Premier League 2018 to get rid of the ever-so-dangerous Sunil Narine. Kolkata Knight Riders are hosting Kings XI Punjab at the Eden Gardens, with both teams to carry the momentum they earned in their last respective encounters. Kings XI Punjab won the toss and opted to bowl first. That was a decision which had no element of surprise in it. KKR went in with their favoured openers at the top, Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn. Both the players have had a deadly impact in the tournament already.

But, it wasn’t the best of starts KKR got as they lost their trump card Narine early on in the encounter. Narine was dismissed for merely a run. At that point in time, KKR had only 6 runs on the board.
So, here is what happened:

Narine slogged Mujeeb-ur-Rahman on the leg-side, trying to get the deep long-on and mid-wicket gap. He was unable as the ball held up in the air. It had the height, not the distance. Karun Nair, who was positioned in the deep, had sunlight to counter. But he judged it perfectly well, to complete the catch.

Meanwhile, KKR has got a good platform, thanks to Lynn’s 50* and with good support from Robin Uthappa (34). Nitish Rana, who is in red-hot form could not stick in today and be dismissed for 3 runs. KKR are strong to post a total in excess of 200, which would make it really hard for Kings XI Punjab. They have a Gayle, who is fresh of a century, yet it will not be a cakewalk for KXIP.
