Lungi Ngidi has one of the best buys for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) this season. Ngidi managed to carry forward his form from Test cricket to T20 cricket. The 22-year-0ld showed his mettle in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 playoffs by taking a couple of wickets in powerplay overs. After the golden duck of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) Shikhar Dhawan, skipper Kane Williamson took the charge and tried forming a partnership with wicketkeeper-batsman Shreevats Goswami.
Goswami decided to put pressure on Ngidi and play a pull shot off the fifth ball of the fourth over. But the short ball hurried to his bat and he hit it hard. The ball could not even go past the pitch, let alone clear the 30-yard circle. On the follow through, Ngidi leaned forward and took a stunner, getting hold of the ball inches off the ground as he dived forward.

The Proteas speedster was roped in by CSK for just Rs 50 lakhs. He is turning out to be one of the most valuable players for CSK this season. He missed the first half of the season as he flew back home after his father’s unfortunate demise. The youngster has been impressing everyone ever since he played his debut Test against India earlier this year and picked up a 5-wicket haul.
