IPL 2018: Preity Zinta Explains Her ‘Mumbai Indians Knocked-Out’ Comment

Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) co-owner Preity Zinta clarified her stand on her alleged ‘Mumbai Indians knocked-out’ comment, saying she never featured in any such conversation.

Earlier, Zinta found herself in trouble after a video, in which she seemed to say that she was ‘very happy’ that Mumbai Indians (MI) had not qualified for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 playoffs, went viral on social media.

Zinta took to Twitter to clarify her stand and wrote:

Dear Media I will appreciate it if you dont create unnecessary controversy of me being happy that another team got knocked out so my team had a real chance. It could be any other team & the word “Finals” never featured in any conversation so stop misreporting as always _ #fedup

According to the reports, the video went viral on Twitter on May 20, when Kings XI Punjab were playing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Pune in an effort to keep their IPL 2018 playoffs hopes alive.

Punjab, however, failed to qualify for the playoffs after they faced defeat at the hands of MS Dhoni-led CSK in a must-win game for them.

KXIP finished IPL 2018 journey at seventh spot with only six victories in 14 games played.

KL Rahul emerged as the leading run-scorer for Punjab with 659 runs in 14 games. While Andrew Tye ended as the leading wicket-taker so far in IPL 2018 with 24 wickets. He is currently the Purple Cap holder.
