Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock is set to miss the next clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 5. RCB’s star player AB de Villiers, who missed out on two games due to illness, has been declared fit for the next fixture. RCB are in a position where they need to win every game to ensure that they still have a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.
RCB coach Daniel Vettori gave an update on De Villiers’s availability ahead of crucial clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Vettori said:
“AB is back fit, Quinton is away from this game. Quinton has returned home for a wedding so he is unavailable for this match so probably it’s an easy decision for us to make.”
RCB have won 3 out of 8 games this season. A win against Mumbai Indians (MI) at home has boosted RCB’s confidence after consecutive losses at home. They are currently in the fifth position in the IPL 2018 points table.
The last time RCB faced CSK was on their own home ground. They were outclassed by the brilliance of CSK skipper MS Dhoni and Orange Cap holder Ambati Rayudu. Scoring over 200 did not work for RCB as the death overs bowling continued to be a problem for RCB skipper Virat Kohli.

De Villiers’ return will boost RCB’s batting order. However, De Kock’s exit means that wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel will play his first match for RCB this season. It will give Kohli a chance to get the team combination right and include an overseas player.
