IPL 2018: Rajasthan Royals To Don Pink Jersey Against CSK To Promote ‘Cancer Out’ Campaign

IPL 2018: Rajasthan Royals recently came back strong after they defeated Kings XI Punjab by 15 runs and climbed up to 6th place on IPL points table

Amid their struggle to stay alive in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Ajinkya Rahane-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) will appear in a different jersey in their next game. In their next clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the Royals are all set to don a Pink jersey to raise awareness about early cancer screening.

On May 9, Rahane, along with RR teammates Heinrich Klaasen, Krishnappa Gowtham and Mahipal Lomror, got themselves screened in an urge to promote early cancer screening. It was a part RR’s ‘Cancer Out’ campaign which Rahane termed as ‘a small but crucial step’ to eradicate this disease.

He said,

“As a player, I think this initiative is a small but crucial step towards a direction of cancer-free society and I hope that we perform to the best of our ability to raise as much awareness as we can.”

RR’s campaign is being run with the support of the state government, National Cancer Grid, Indian Cancer Society and Indian Dental Association in the state.

As far as their new outfit is concerned, it has been created with a blend of three colours — pink, teal and burgundy. These three colours symbolise the most profound and common types of cancer — pink for breast cancer, burgundy for oral cancer and teal for cervical cancer.

The Ajinkya Rahane-led side recently came back strong after they defeated Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 15 runs and moved up to the 6th place on the points table, with 8 points. If they win all of their remaining 4 games, they might become one of the top four teams and get a chance to feature in the playoffs.`
