Umesh Yadav went past Bhuvneshwar Kumar to sit pretty at the second spot in the record for the highest number of wickets taken in IPL against an opposition. Umesh picked up 3 wickets in his quota of 4 overs, giving away 23 runs, which is commendable in the shortest format of the game.
Umesh was in a spectacular form as he bowled fast and quick. More importantly, he got the priced wickets of in-form KL Rahul and the ever-so-dangerous Chris Gayle. These two wickets meant RCB was always going to dictate the game. This was required from RCB’s point of view, as they need to win all the 3 remaining games to qualify for the playoffs. Hence, room for error is next to nothing!

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is in the third spot, picked up 25 wickets against KKR, and on top of the list is Dwayne Bravo with 27 wickets against Mumbai Indians.
Most wickets by pacers against an opposition in IPL:
27 – Dwayne Bravo v MI
26 – UMESH YADAV v KXIP*

Meanwhile, RCB have dismissed KXIP for a paltry 88 runs. This will boost RCB’s NRR if they manage to close the match quickly. On the other hand, it becomes tricky for KXIP to make the cut as they need to win both remaining matches (that is if they lose to RCB today).
This also happens to be Umesh Yadav’s best bowling performance in IPL 2018. So, a great night for the speedster!
