Virat Kohli is known for his athleticism between the wickets. Kohli does not depend on boundaries all the time, he likes to get the scoreboard moving and pick up singles and twos swiftly. However, that somehow leads to run outs which turn out to be suicidal in later stages of the game. South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock got run out for the first time playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and it seems like he has no one but skipper Kohli to blame.
In the fifth over of the match, Kohli tried to work the ball square of the wicket while playing it late. The ball got past one fielder and Kohli saw an opportunity to take a single. But, Vijay Shankar came running towards the ball. There was a slight misunderstanding between Kohli-Kock as the latter was reluctant to take a single first.
All Shankar needed was a slight hesitation between the two as he under-armed it to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. De Kock was nowhere near the crease and threw his wicket away as Kohli was walking towards the non-striker’s end. Both were disappointed as RCB needed a thumping start to the innings in order to chase down the target of 175.
Here’s how Twitterati reacted to the mix-up as the majority blamed Kohli for it –
