A bizarre incident took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad when umpire CK Nandan got hit by the ball in the second innings after signalling the strategic time-out. At the end of powerplay overs, Nandan signalled time-out and was not aware that the ball was coming his way.
He almost got knocked out but didn’t when the ball hit his head. His reflexes as well kicked in too little too late to dodge the incoming ball, as he covered his head with both hands after being hit. Ouch! We wouldn’t be surprised if he opts to wear a helmet in the next match he umpires in.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were sailing smoothly in the powerplay overs, having scored 56 runs. But after the 6 overs, Mayank Markande was introduced into the attack by Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma.

Markande delivered yet again, picking up the wickets of openers Shikhar Dhawan and Wriddhiman Saha. He got the wicket of Manish Pandey and Shakib Al Hasan as well. He will be getting the purple cap for taking seven wickets in just two matches.

Earlier, MI faced a major setback when their top order gave in too easily in the powerplay overs itself. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals and they could only score 147 in the full quota of 20 overs. However, it was SRH who had the last laugh, thanks to Deepak Hooda and Billy Stanlake’s last-ball heroics.
