‘Gotham gave us Batman, Gowtham gave us batsman’, that’s what every Rajasthan Royals (RR) fan must have been thinking after 29-year-old Krishnappa Gowtham’s breathtaking 11-ball 33 took them over the line in a nail-biting game against Mumbai Indians (MI). Even the most optimistic Royals fan present at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur must have thought at some time during the game that would lose. But the welcome Gowtham got when he entered the Royals dressing room was nothing short of ecstatic. The cricketer was excited, as were all his teammates who were patting him on his back and had burst into cheers. Gowtham, it seemed, could not hide his emotions and joined in.
