IPL Auctions 2018: 18-year-old 'Speed-King' Kamlesh Nagarkoti fetches Rs 3.2 crore, to play for KKR

KKR refused to use the RTM card to retain their former captain Gautam Gambhir after he was sold to DD for Rs 2.8 crore

18-year-old bowling sensation from India, Kamlesh Nagarkoti was sold to Shah Rukh Khan co-owned Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the Indian Premier League auctions 2018 held in Bengaluru on January 27.

Kamlesh Nagarkoti, who hails from Rajasthan, is currently a part of the Indian U-19 World Cup team led by Prithvi Shaw. He grabbed the spotlight after he clocked a massive 146 kmph speed during the ongoing U-19 World Cup in New Zealand.

Former India cricketers Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly were left impressed with his performance (3/29) against U-19 Australian team that helped the Indian team start their U-19 WC campaign on a flier.

Meanwhile, India’s U-19 skipper Prithvi Shaw was sold to Delhi Daredevils for Rs 1.2 crore. 18-year-old Shubman Gill, who is also a part of Indian U-19 WC squad, fetched Rs 1.8 crore. He will also play for KKR.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes and Indian youngsters Manish Pandey and Lokesh Rahul emerged as the most valueable players at the IPL auction.

Debut season winners Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured Stokes for an eye-popping Rs 12.5 crore. Pandey and Rahul were both sold for Rs 11 crore.

The 11th season of the cash-rich IPL will start from April 7 in Mumbai.
