IPL Auction 2018: Here’s how Virat Kohli led RCB squad looks after spending Rs 33.15 Cr on day 1

The Royal Challengers Bangalore now have a total of 14 players on their side while they can have up to a maximum of 25 players in this season

The first day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 player auctions turned out to be full of surprises when out of 578 capped and uncapped players, 108 players went under the hammer. All the 8 franchises were present in Bangalore on January 27 to pick the players for their teams. By the end of day 1, a total of 79 players were sold including 29 foreign cricketers. Also, 30 players remained unsold. They will go under the hammer once again on the day 2 i.e., on January 27.

Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made a surprising move after they showed no interest in buying the universe Boss, Chris Gayle. Ultimately, he remained unsold on day 1.

The franchise arrived at the auctions with an amount of Rs 49 Cr in their purse. Out of this sum, they spent around Rs 33.15 Cr to buy 11 players. Now, for the auction going to be held on the day 2, RCB is left with around Rs 15.85 Cr.

Several old faces were not retained or bought this time while a bunch of new players are inducted into the team.

Earlier on January 20, the RCB think tank had already announced the names of the players they retained players which includes skipper Virat Kohli (Rs 17 Cr), AB de Villiers (Rs 11 Cr) and uncapped Indian player, Sarfaraz Khan (Rs 1.75 Cr).
