After retaining Sunil Narine and Andre Russel, Kolkata Knight Riders went into the IPL Auctions with Rs 59 Cr. But it seemed they had done their homework and were not rushing bids like other franchises. They kept a low key during auctions but came out with flying colours. The big players KKR got onboard was Chris Lynn, Mitchell Starc. KKR also used their RTM card to perfection, they used the card for Kuldeep Yadav, Robin Uthappa and Piyush Chawla.

Kolkata Knight Riders also contemplated getting Saha as their keeper but finally they backed out from Saha and bougt Dinesh Karthik for big money.
