IPL Auction 2018: Mumbai Indians buy only 6 players after spending Rs 31.2 Cr on day 1. Full list inside

The MI team has now got a team strength of 9 players including 3 overseas players. They are left with Rs 15.8 Cr for the second day's auctions

Mumbai Indians (MI), the defending champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), acted very wisely during the first day of the mega auctions on January 27 in Bengaluru. They had already retained the skipper, Rohit Sharma, all-rounder Hardik Pandya and speedster Jasprit Bumrah while they were looking forward to having a bunch of talented players so that they can go with all their guns blazing in yet another season of this cash-rich tournament. In comparison to the other franchises, they bought fewer players but ultimately, they got what they wanted.

The most surprising step taken by MI was not buying the players with the likes of Harbhajan Singh, former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson, Sri Lanka’s veteran bowler Lasith Malinga and the young batting sensation from Mumbai, Prithvi Shaw. During the auction, they involved in the tussle for several players but bought only 6.
