Irani Cup Winners Donate Prize Money As Tribute To Martyred Soldiers

Hopefully, more prominent personalities will follow

Skipper Faiz Fazal’s team, Vidarbha, has had a successful run in the past couple of years. The Ranji Trophy 2018-19 winners successfully retained Irani Cup against Ajinkya Rahane’s team, Rest of India. Their dominance in domestic cricket is inspiring. Now, they have earned our respect with their off the field gesture by donating the Irani Cup prize money of Rs 10 lakh to families of martyred soldiers in the Pulwama attack.

Vidarbha skipper Fazal said in the post-match interview,

“We have decided to donate the prize money to the families of the martyrs at Pulwama. A small gesture from our side,”

Vidarbha are proving why they are champions on an off the field. The #IraniTrophy winners led by @faizfazal have decided to hand over their prize money to family members of martyrs of #PulwamaTerroristAttack. pic.twitter.com/Rh6i44nXrI

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag said that he will “take complete care of the education of the children”.  Not just cricketers, boxer Vijender Singh is donating his one month’s salary to the cause and also urged others to come forward and help the families of the soldiers.

Nothing we can do will be enough, but the least I can do is offer to take complete care of the education of the children of our brave CRPF jawans martyred in #Pulwama in my Sehwag International School @SehwagSchool , Jhajjar. Saubhagya hoga pic.twitter.com/lpRcJSmwUh

I’m donating my one month’s salary for the martyrs of #PulwamaTerrorAttack and want everyone to come forward and support the families. It is our moral duty to always standby them and make them feel proud of their sacrifices.
