Ireland vs Pakistan, 1st Test: Imam-ul-Haq escapes injury on the first ball of his debut match after collision with two Irish players

Ireland Cricket Team made their Test debut against Pakistan and made history. But, the start to their Test career did not go well for the Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq. Opener Azhar Ali faced the first ball of the historic match at The Village, Dublin. When Ali barely managed to get bat on ball as Tim Murtagh swung the ball towards the leg side, Imam saw an opportunity. He tried to take a single but was struggling to make his ground.

Ireland wicketkeeper Niall O’Brien charged towards the ball and tried to kick it towards the stumps but failed. Imam tried to move away from O’Brien but ended up colliding with fielder Tyrone Kane. After taking the hit, Inzamam-ul-Haq’s nephew fell flat on his back and they physio had to be called in.

The second delivery of the Test was bowled a few minutes after that. He made his debut after hitting a century against Kent Cricket Club in the tour game. But he could not make a mark in the debut innings as he got out after scoring just 7 runs from 23 balls. He was trapped in front of the wicket by Murtagh with a ball that swung in late.

Murtagh proved lethal with the new ball as he got two wickets in two balls including both the openers. Ireland’s maiden Test saw it’s first ball being bowled on Day 2 as rain played spoilsport on Day 1.
