Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who is three wickets away from becoming the highest wicket-taker this year in T20Is, was recently challenged by New Zealander Ish Sodi to a chess battle. Sodi, who is a part of the New Zealand team which is currently touring India for 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is, challenged Chahal to a chess game on their flight from Rajkot to Thiruvananthapuram. Both the teams are in Thiruvananthapuram for the third and the decider T20I match of the series scheduled to start at 7:00 PM IST.
Chahal, who has represented India in chess at the junior level, outclassed Sodhi and beat him with a checkmate. Delighted with the win, Chahal shared a screenshot of game’s result on his Twitter handle. He wrote,
Hard luck my brother _ @ish_sodhi #betterlucknexttime_ pic.twitter.com/XzimLDwKT3

Sodhi, in turn, gave a quirky reply to Chahal’s tweet.

The friendly banter didn’t end there. The duo went on to play three games and Chahal won all of them. They shared their conversations on Twitter.
