Jasprit Bumrah’s ‘no-ball’ wicket of Upul Tharanga may be the stroke of luck Sri Lanka needed after a dismal 2017 against India. Sri Lanka skittled out the famed Indian batting for 112 runs on a seaming wicket at Dharamsala. None of the Indian top five managed to get into double figures, with debutante Shreyas Iyer top scoring among the top five with 9 runs.

MS Dhoni saved India the blushes from getting their lowest score, he top-scored for India with 65 runs. MS Dhoni was also the last wicket to fall. Shikhar Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik scored ducks. Suranga Lakmal was the pick of the Lankan bowlers, he finished with figures of 13 for 4 from his 10 overs.

India started bowling and picked up a couple of early wickets of Gunathilaka (1) and Thirimanne (0). Bumrah got the former and Bhuvneshwar got the latter.

THE INCIDENT:

The episode that we are talking about is when Bumrah got Upul Tharanga’s edge and Dinesh Karthik completed a catch, only to later realise it was a no-ball. Replays showed no part of the foot was behind the line on his first landing at the crease. It could have been 3 wickets down then and game on. But that was not to be. But was that the game-changing moment for Sri Lanka?
