Kieron Pollard gets bashed for stopping Evin Lewis from scoring second-fastest T20 century | Watch Video

Kieron Pollard did the unexpected when Evin Lewis was just one hit away from hitting the second fastest half century in the history of T20s

Kieron Pollard has been involved in many controversies on the field but this one surely takes the cake. Pollard came to bowl the 8th over in a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2017 match between Barbados Tridents vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Evin Lewis was looking to hit another T20 century as he was batting on 97 runs from 31 balls. Lewis was just one boundary away from scoring the fastest century in the history of CPL and the second fastest century in the history of T20 cricket.

Pollard seemed to bowl the no ball deliberately to stop Lewis from breaking the record. Barbados Tridents skipper’s foot landed way outside the line as he bowled a short ball on the leg side. The video was conclusive of the fact that Pollard did it on purpose.

Lewis could not believe that Pollard had pulled off something like this as he looked around and waited for the Umpire’s signal. Lewis decimated the Barbados Tridents’ attack by hitting 11 sixes and six fours. He scored 90 off 97 runs through boundaries at a whopping strike rate of 303.13.

Lewis took on Pollard as well hitting him for 2 sixes and 2 fours in his previous over. His whirlwind innings made an ordinary target of 129 look like a midget one chasing it down in a matter of 7 runs scoring at a run rate of 18.42.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots won the match by 10 wickets and an interesting fact that should be noticed that Chris Gayle was batting on the other side.

Twitterati reacted to Pollard’s deliberate no-ball, slamming him for denying Lewis a well-deserved century.
