Captain of the Indian Women’s cricket team Mithali Raj has come off a memorable run at the recently concluded ICC Women’s world cup tournament. India ranked seventh before the start of the tournament, finished second best to hosts England, in a match that went down to the wire. Mithali Raj’s efforts and performances have inspired millions of girls to take up the sport. So much so, that these days there are girls dressing up like Mithali Raj, in a bid to emulate her. That is how much her popularity has spiked.

Apparently, a little girl named Apoorva Ekbote had to attend an event at school, a fancy-dress competition as a part of her school assignment. They had to dress up as their favourite national leader, and she chose the women’s team captain. Now, that speaks volumes of the impact the run making machine has had on the little girls in the country and hence Apoorva chose to flaunt of Mithali Raj.
To make things even sweeter for Apoorva, Mithali Raj responded herself. Has to be said that this girl has become more popular than the internet sensation Dhinchak Pooja after the captain herself responded. Here is what the post read, “Dress up as any national leader for school event. Our very own Captain of Indian cricket team @M_Raj03 to inspire my daughter.. #MithaliRaj.” In the 6 second video, the little girl says,”Mithali Raj is captain of Indian cricket team.” She says it in the most innocent and cute manner which is bound to melt your heart.
