The much-awaited player auctions of the eleventh season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) took place in Bengaluru on January 27. Out of 578 capped and uncapped players, 108 players went under the hammer. 78 players were sold including 29 overseas cricketers while 30 including Cris Gayle, Joe Root, Josh Hazlewood etc went unsold. A Total of Rs 321 Cr have been spent on day 1 of the mega auctions.

17:24 IST: Another talented uncapped player from the BBL, Jofra Archer, who will join D’Arcy Short in the Rajasthan Royals dressing room. He is sold for Rs 7.2 Cr.
17:17 IST: D’Arcy Short, the uncapped all-rounder from Australia, will be playing for Rajasthan Royals. He played phenomenally in the BBL for the Hobart Hurricanes and today cracked a deal of Rs 4 Cr.
17:14 IST: Nitish Rana couldn’t have received a better offer than this. With a base price of Rs 20 lakhs, he has been bought by KKR for Rs 3.4 Cr.
17:08 IST: Krunal Pandya, as expected, has been retained by MI via RTM. He will be receiving an amount of Rs 8.8 Cr for this season.
17:03 IST: After another long bidding tussle, KKR buy Indian U19 pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti for Rs 3.2 Cr. The pacer was expected to crack a good deal in his debut season and he got one.

Earlier, all the eight franchises announced the names of the retained players for the eleventh edition of this cash-rich tournament starting from April 7, 2018, in Mumbai.
Apart from the fresh auctions, the return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the tournament has been the talk of the town for quite a long while now. These two franchises were suspended for two years due to corruption charges.
