Lt Col (Hony) MS Dhoni pays surprise visit to Srinagar School, interacts with his little fans – SEE PICS

MS Dhoni, who announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2014, is currently enjoying his off-time

India’s wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni on November 22 paid a surprise visit to a school in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Dhoni, who was conferred the rank of honorary lieutenant colonel by the Territorial Army for his contribution in the field of cricket in 2011, visited the Army Public School in an Indian Army dress.

Chinar Corps, Indian Army, took to their official Twitter handle to post several pictures of the former Indian captain while interacting with students. They captioned the post as: “Lt Col (Hony) Mahendra Singh #Dhoni interacting with the enthusiastic children of #APS #Srinagar; emphasised upon importance of #studies and #sports.”

MS Dhoni, who announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2014, is currently enjoying his off-time as Indian cricket team is busy facing Sri Lankans in the three-match Test series.

Besides MS Dhoni, other sportspersons including Abhinav Bindra, Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar also hold honorary ranks in the armed forces. While former Indian captain Kapil Dev is an honorary Lt Col in the Territorial Army, Tendulkar is an honorary Group Captain in the Indian Air Force.

Meanwhile, Team India will take on visitors Sri Lankans in the second Test match at Nagpur starting November 24. The first match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata ended in a draw.
